According to latest rumors from CR, A brand new APS-C CMOS sensor from Canon is on the way, this new APS-C sensor rumored to be 32.5 Megapixel.
Several months ago, we already posted that there is a chance that Canon will release a new APS-C DSLR camera to replace both Canon EOS 7D Mark II and EOS 90D since Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless system introduced. Now CR said again that 7D Mark III and 90D may integrated into one APS-C DSLR camera. This camera will move slightly upmarket from 80D to cover the prosumer and enthusiast APS-C shooters.
The Canon EOS 7D Mark II and Canon EOS 80D are already quite old now, and according to previous rumors, replacement of both cameras will coming in 2019. Canon has already confirmed that there will be no new EF lenses in 2019, but this not mean we will not see new DSLR cameras.
After Canon EOS R has officially announced, Canon now focus on full frame mirrorless cameras, according to rumors, there will be 3 EOS R bodies and 5 RF lenses released before Q2, 2020. We already know that at least one EOS R body(EOS R2/EOS R Pro) is in testing, will be announced in early 2019.
Since Canon EOS R announced before Photokina 2018, there will be no new cameras & lenses to be announced in 2018. We’re now going to see more emphasis from Canon on rebates and deals for the upcoming Black Friday & Cyber Monday and the Christmas shopping season. As in last year, there will be great deals on 5D Mark IV, 6D Mark II, 7D Mark II, 80D, T7i and even on new released EOS R.
