Canon USA has accidentally leaked the firmware version 1.4.0 for EOS R (B&H Photo Video/Amazon/Adorama). This is a major firmware update with a lot of autofocus updates and bug fixes. Unfortunately, this firmware now removed, the official release date is on September 26th, 2019.

Report: New Firmware for EOS R Coming this Month Make AF Comparable to Sony’s

During the EOS 90D, EOS M6 Mark II, RF 15-35mm f/2.8L, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L lenses announcement last month, Canon also announced that new firmware for Canon EOS R/EOS RP will be released in this months. Canon 83MP Full Frame Sensor Patent (For Canon EOS RS ?)

Canon recently has filed a new patent for 83MP full frame CMOS sensor, you will find that 83MP full frame sensor is scaled up the new 32.5mp APS-C sensor to full-frame from the EOS 90D and EOS M6 Mark II. As already rumored before, Canon will announce a new high megapixel EOS RS to replace current EOS 5DS/5DS R, expected to be announced in late 2019 to early 2020.

Report: Canon to Release EOS-1D X Mark III Equivalent EOS R Mirrorless Camera in 2021

According to a report from Japan’s primary newspaper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Canon is expected to release an EOS-1D X Mark III equivalent EOS R Pro full frame mirrorless camera in 2021. Nikkan Kogyo Shimbum also said that prototype of EOS R Pro is already completed.
