A new Canon patent for in-body stabilization and in-lens stabilization working together in the EOS R full frame mirrorless system now get uncovered. As already rumored before, Canon will bring IBIS feature to the upcoming EOS R pro model and high-end model.

According to latest interview with Canon executives by Amateur photographer at CP+ 2019. Canon executives confirmed again that IBIS (Canon call this All Optical IS) is coming to EOS R body, and Canon is thinking of releasing a higher-end EOS R body, and EOS M system is not dead yet, new EOS M bodies will coming.
In the EOS RP (B&H Photo/Adorama/Amazon) & RF lens presentation early today, Canon confirmed again (Previous interview also confirmed) that the long awaited feature “IBIS” will coming to future EOS R full frame mirrorless cameras. With optical IS, Canon call this “All Optical IS“. Maybe we will see All Optical IS feature in the EOS R Pro Body first.
According to recently rumors on NL, the long awaited IBIS feature will coming to an EOS R camera in this year. And around 2020, Canon will release a new EOS R camera that have a 100MP full frame sensor, to replace current EOS 5DS/5DS R DSLR cameras.
Canon Japan has just filed a new patent “in body image stabilization system for Canon image sensor”. As we already know, the recently released Canon EOS R (B&H/Amazon/Adorama/Focus Camera/WEX/ParkCamera) has no IBIS, maybe we will see IBIS in next Canon EOS R model (EOS R Pro), Canon manager also said we may see IBIS in next Canon EOS R.
In a recently interview with Canon UK’s product intelligence consultant David Parry by DCW, he explained that why Canon EOS R (B&H Photo Video/Amazon/Adorama/Focus Camera) doesn’t have IBIS like other mirrorless cameras.
According David Parry, Canon think that in-lens IS is the optimum system for image stabilisation, because different lenses has different types of IS. And Canon is also looking at IBIS.
